Use available resources for the benefit of your domains and plan military sorties, choosing appropriate tasks. • Improve your soldiers — Unlock new skills and devastating attacks for each of the 32 possible companions. Increase their weapon specialization by choosing from a rich arsenal. 
• Personalize your companions — Give each one a name and appearance that reflects their character.
• Demand ransom for prisoners— Take enemies alive. Each prisoner has one or more effects that give bonuses to your companions and buildings.
• The decision is yours — Keep them for your bonuses or ransom them.
